Genesis Livestock Services :: About UsGenesis Livestock came into being in 1992 as a result of a move to the great state of Wyoming. I had lived in Michigan all my life but Wyoming was always a place I thought I would like to be. I worked for a time on a cow/calf opertion east of Casper helping care for 1,000 mother cows. I learned a lot about raising cattle there, where it rarely rains. Irrigation is a daily activity in summers, and wind becomes your friend and nemesis. After living in several locations in Wyoming, I most recently lived in beautiful Cody on small acreage where I practiced intense rotational grazing with the Lowlines and other cattle. I first discovered the Lowline cattle breed at the National Western Stock Show in 1999 where the first importers of the breed had set up a display. I was hooked! I began by using Lowline semen on Angus cows and producing percentage Lowlines from them. Eventually, I progressed and added to both the Lowline herd and also added BueLingo cows to breed to my own purchased herd bull, AFB Fitz S219. In September, 2003, I moved back home to Michigan to a small farm east of Lansing. I sold several head of cattle but did bring seven with me. I continue to breed fullblood Lowlines and percentage Lowline cattle. There seems to be a perpetual waiting list for these unique, moderate sized cattle. |
